Make the Bordeaux metropolis a model and a recognized destination for sustainable tourism is one of the goals of the coming years.

Thus, the Bordeaux Métropole Tourist and Convention Office intends to unite all tourism stakeholders in an eco-responsible approach. The year 2020 ended with more than encouraging news for the continuation of this approach: Bordeaux obtained a very good result in the Global Destination Sustainability Index.


In 2020, took place the benchmarking program of sustainable strategies of destinations.

The city’s overall score grew from 54% to 72% in one year, making it one of the fastest growing destinations in the world. This approach is made possible thanks to a solid base of places and actors already committed to sustainable tourism, whether in the social, environmental or ethical aspect.
